Pharmacy First goes live on February 1st, 2024

Starting February 1st, 2024, NHS England has created a new scheme to help ease the pressure on UK General Practice. It is called “Pharmacy First pathways”, encouraging eligible patients to utilise these services for timely and effective care. “Right patient, Right place, Right time, First time”

Minor Surgery Clinic

The practice provides a Minor Surgery service for our registered patients, provided by a GP with specialist training in this area. This service provides convenience for patients who would have otherwise been referred to hospital and encounter a long waiting list for review/removal.

Service exclusions

The excision of lesions which, under skin cancer guidelines should be referred to a specialist practitioner includes:

  • suspected squamous cell carcinoma
  • high risk basal cell carcinoma (see Southampton view of map of medicine for BCC guidelines)
  • pigmented lesions (unless assessed by dermoscope and considered dysplastic but not malignant )

If you feel you have any of the above please discuss this with your named GP in the first instance. If they believe your skin lesion meets the criteria to be removed they will inter-refer you to our GP specialist. Our waiting list can is usually under 6 weeks.

Clinics are held once a month, typically on a Thursday afternoon.
